Love languages for CMs have to be strategic. Showing appreciation to CMs can bring about more engagement and deeper loyalty.
Let your CM know that they are cherished, using the below modes.
Words of Affirmation - This could be written, verbal, public or private. Give shout-outs in meetings or newsletters, send personalised, handwritten, thank-you notes and create dedicated ‘shout-out channels on forums like Discord or Slack.
Acts of Service - Removing obstacles or taking on tasks eases CMs’ burdens. Share/create valuable tools, assist with a tedious community project or proactively escalate issues on the CM’s behalf, before it impacts the group.
Quality Time - Spending time with your CM on the general page, during Q & As or office hours, affords members the opportunity to know their CM better. Even random DM the CM 😉 check-ins, breaks the ice and fosters camaraderie.
Receiving Gifts - Useful items like; tote bags, jotters, mugs, water bottles, laptop stands, hoodies, earphones, flashdrives, free tickets, subscriptions or valuable courses, make a big difference. I know this one will resonate with you a lot. 😏
Physical Touch - Tell your CM you see and appreciate their work by giving them a warm handshake, hug, fist bump or high-five. Also, you can express physical touch remotely by; active listening, deep empathy and creating a space for vulnerability.
